We started with careful research on exactly what pets need. Our ALPHA prey product for cats and BARF (Biologically Appropriate Raw Food) are optimized for each animal’s dietary requirements.
Many cat foods on the market today have filler ingredients like rice, potatoes, and other vegetables. But since cats are carnivores, their diet needs to be almost entirely meat-based. Dogs, on the other hand, are omnivores—so our blend for dogs, while mostly meat, includes a few more vegetables.
Once we decided on how to make each blend to be biologically appropriate, it was time to source ingredients and create each one.
Each of our products contains a specific ratio of meat, viscera, bone, and organic agricultural products that meets AAFCO requirements:
ALPHA for cats:
● 99% raw bone and meat
● 1% organic agricultural products
● 0% grain gluten
BARF for dogs:
● 90% raw meat
● 10% organic agricultural products
● 0% grain gluten
We choose our ingredients carefully, working with locally selected Wisconsin farmers to source human-grade meat and vegetables. All our vegetables are natural and organic.
We don’t use excess synthetic nutritional additives, like so many pet foods on the market currently do; instead, the nutrients in our pet food come from raw bone and meat.
Freeze-drying keeps food from deteriorating, but ordinary drying methods tend to leach the nutrients from raw bone and meat, which also affects the quality and taste. That’s why we don’t use traditional freeze-drying methods to make our pet foods.
Instead, we use the most advanced freeze-drying technology available: a slow, 48 hour freeze-drying process that uses nitrogen to ensure freshness, lock in nutrients, retain biological cell activity, and preserve the authentic flavor of each ingredient.
